Force restart your iPhone

Perform a thorough reboot of your iPhone (Reboot)

If you encounter issues with your iPhone that aren't resolved by simply turning it off and on again, or if it's impossible to shut down, you can try performing a thorough reboot of its operating system.

 

For the following models

iPhone 8, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, or iPhone 13.

  1. Quickly press the volume up button and release it swiftly.
  2. Quickly press the volume down button and swiftly release it.
  3. Hold down the right side button until the Apple logo appears, then release the button.
  4. The phone will now completely restart (may take a moment compared to starting up after a regular shutdown)
