Guide: Restoring your Mac

Complete the restoration process

    1. Boot your computer into macOS Recovery mode:

      On a Mac equipped with Apple Silicon (MacBooks from 2020):
      Click  At the top left corner, click on the Apple logo and then select "Shut down...". Once the computer is powered off, press and hold the power button until you see the Startup Options.

      On an Intel-based Mac (MacBooks prior to 2020):
      Click on the Apple logo at the top left corner and then select "Shut down...". Once the computer is powered off, press and hold the Command + R keys until you see the Startup Options loading screen.

    2. In the Recovery window app, select Reinstall for your version of macOS and then click on Continue.

    3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

    4. In the settings where you choose a volume, select the current macOS volume (in most cases, it is the only available option).
