Why am I blocked from signing in to Microsoft 365?
If you see “Device must comply with your organization’s compliance requirements” or “You cannot access this right now”, your sign-in is blocked by a security policy. This is not a password issue.
I can’t sign in — what do “Device must comply…” or “You cannot access this right now” mean?
If you see “Device must comply with your organization’s compliance requirements” or “You cannot access this right now”, your sign-in is blocked by a security policy. This is not a password issue.
1) Identify the message you see
A) “Device must comply with your organization’s compliance requirements”
This usually means your device must be registered and approved for work (Intune / compliant device).
B) “You cannot access this right now”
This can be caused by location restrictions (geo-fence), browser/app restrictions, or another Conditional Access rule.
2) Fix: Register your device (Intune / compliance)
Windows 10/11 (recommended)
- Install Company Portal from Microsoft Store
- Open Company Portal and sign in with your work account
- Follow the steps to register/enroll your device
- Wait a few minutes and try signing in again
macOS
- Install Company Portal on your Mac
- Open Company Portal and sign in with your work account
- Follow the enrollment steps (you may need to approve a management profile)
- Wait a few minutes and try signing in again
iPhone / iPad
- Install Company Portal from the App Store
- Sign in with your work account
- Follow the enrollment steps (you may be asked to install a management profile)
- Try signing in again
Android
- Install Company Portal from Google Play
- Sign in with your work account and complete enrollment
- Try signing in again
3) If you enrolled but still can’t sign in
- Wait 5–10 minutes and try again (policies/compliance can take a moment to update)
- Restart your browser or device and try again
- If you use Microsoft Edge, make sure Edge is signed in with the work or school account shown on the error screen
4) Location restrictions (geo-fence)
Our Conditional Access policy only allows sign-ins from Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland and from countries that are on your Trusted Locations allow-list.
